Michael Robinson & Children's Miracle Network
Michael Robinson
Michael Robinson, the former NFL player, became involved with our project in an unexpected way. Sean and I had worked for him at his house, installing all of his audio and video systems, setting up his music studio, and even installing a driveway monitoring system. Sean already knew him from previous interactions, and I met Michael while working at his house on these projects. During our time working together, we started talking to Michael about NFTs, and that’s when he expressed an interest in the concept.
However, I never had direct conversations with Michael about the project itself. Sean acted as the middleman, and all communication with Michael or his team was always through emails or third-party contacts. I was told by Sean that Michael was on board with the idea and was interested in moving forward.
After that, I reached out to Michael to ask if he would be willing to create some promotional videos for us. When those videos came out, it seemed like everything was moving forward. We started minting, and Michael shared our post once, showing support for the project. But after that, it went silent. No more posts, no updates, no further involvement. We couldn’t get any response from him, and Sean was unable to get a straight answer when he tried to follow up.
To this day, I still don’t know what happened. Michael seemed interested initially, but his sudden disappearance left us in the dark. We never got an explanation, and it remains one of the biggest mysteries in the project. His lack of involvement after that initial push was a big letdown, especially after the time and effort that went into getting him involved. We payed extra to have his jerseys put into the collection. It was already done, remember?
Children's Miracle Network
When I was streaming, our community always rallied behind a cause that was close to our hearts—the Children’s Miracle Network. We all agreed that if anything were to happen to our kids, we would want someone there to help us and get us through it. That sense of community and support led my old community to decide that this charity would be the one we championed. So, the idea arose: why not integrate this charity into our project?
I reached out to the lady in charge of the Children’s Miracle Network in our area, explaining what we were doing and how we wanted to incorporate the charity into our project. With a few meetings and emails where I had to explain what NFTs were, we got the green light to use their logo and likeness on our site and in our promotional materials.
From there, we got to work raising money for the cause, and the response was incredible. In total, we raised about $5,000 through various fundraising events. One of the most impactful ideas we introduced to the industry was our unique "Make a donation to a charity to get on a whitelist" campaign. We were the first project to ever do this, and the response was overwhelming. The idea was simple: if you wanted the NFT that badly, why not spend just $5 to help kids in need?
That campaign was beautiful in its simplicity and generosity, and it earned us a lot of praise. It wasn’t just about NFTs—it was about making a positive impact, and we were proud to lead the charge with that concept. It was one of the most rewarding aspects of the project, and seeing our community come together for such a meaningful cause was something that made everything we did feel worthwhile.
I'm 100% glad we did this.
