The Mint
December 25th, 2021
The mint of the Moose Society NFT project started out slow. We had only 22 people when we first launched, and honestly, it felt like we were trying to get a fire started with just a few sparks. But I knew that if we didn’t get the word out and build momentum, it wasn’t going to go anywhere. So, I threw myself into it, staying awake for two days straight, bouncing between Twitter and Discord, engaging with anyone who showed interest. I barely got a few hours of sleep, and then it was back to the grind again, day after day, for over two weeks during the first mint.
I was beyond worn out, mentally and physically. But deep down, I knew that if I didn’t show up and stay active, the project wouldn’t have the chance it needed. If I didn’t stay visible, engaging with the community and constantly being out there, there was no way the project would grow. It was a tough road, but I pushed through because I had to believe in the vision.
Every Twitter post, every livestream on Twitch, it all had a purpose. I was doing everything I could to get people over to the Discord and get them excited. We spent money shilling our Discord in others, pushing the project into new communities to get eyes on it. Slowly but surely, it began to pick up. What started as a slow burn eventually turned into something much bigger.
But the real turning point for the project came when the community stepped up. It was absolutely crucial that the community came together and started sharing posts, spreading the word, and helping to "shill" the project. It wasn’t just about me pushing the project anymore, it was about everyone joining in to help amplify the message. And that’s exactly what you all did. You started sharing posts, spreading the word on social media, and bringing more people into the fold.
Without the community coming together like that, the project would have never gained the momentum it needed to take off. It was a group effort, and seeing the community come together to support and promote the project was incredible. It showed that when we all worked together, the possibilities were limitless. What started as a small project grew into something much bigger because the community truly got behind it and put in the effort to make it successful. And I’ll always be grateful for that.
Minting Reward Structure
During the mint, we had planned on taking $15,000 from the mint to reward the community. I’m proud to say that we did manage to give away over $9,000 in mint rewards to those who supported us. We also held giveaways on Twitter, where we gave away over $4,500 for simply liking and sharing posts. We truly had the community's best interests at heart, and everything we did was meant to show our gratitude and build a stronger connection with everyone who believed in the project.
However, as much as we gave, there were still a few final rewards, including a big $5,000 prize, that we couldn’t fulfill. Unfortunately, due to the challenges we faced, the funds just weren’t there to make it happen. I deeply regret that, and I want to apologize for not being able to follow through on that final promise.
Despite the setbacks, please know that we did everything we could to reward and appreciate the community that supported us from the beginning. We genuinely wanted to give back and help everyone feel like they were part of something special. The journey wasn’t easy, and it’s one of the hardest things to reconcile—that we couldn’t finish everything we set out to do. But I hope that the efforts we did make to give back were meaningful and show that we always had the community’s best interests in mind.
Giveaway Proof Channel in Discord
One of the key principles I wanted to uphold throughout the project was transparency. To ensure that everyone could see how giveaways were being handled and who was winning, we created a Giveaway Proof Channel in Discord.
Whenever we held a giveaway and selected a winner, I made sure to post the transaction and the winner’s details in that channel. Whether it was mint rewards, Twitter giveaways, or other prizes, I wanted to make sure that everyone could verify that the giveaways were being conducted fairly and honestly. By sharing the transaction details, you could see exactly how the funds were distributed and who the winners were.
This channel was just one of the ways I tried to be as transparent as possible. I didn’t want there to be any doubt or confusion about the process, and I wanted the community to feel confident that the giveaways were legitimate and handled properly. It was important to me that everyone knew we were doing things the right way, even when things got challenging. I hope the transparency in the Giveaway Proof Channel helped reinforce that trust.
