Next Earth Virtual Land & Moose Island
I personally bought over 120 NFTs from Next Earth, a platform where you can buy virtual land based on real-world locations. I set these up for the community, so the NFTs you received represent real ownership of virtual land on Moose Island.
When you minted 10 OG Moose NFTs, you received access to a plot of land on Moose Island, which is part of the Next Earth platform. These plots were always intended to be part of a broader plan to develop the land in The Sandbox as a shared community space.
Last time I checked, these NFTs had increased in value by 400% since I gave them to you. However, the site is migrating and launching a coin, so I’m unsure if they are still actively developing. You can check the site here: Next Earth.
Clarifying Moose Island Plots
There has been some confusion about the nature of the Moose Island plots. To clarify, the original plan was never to give each person a $11,000 piece of land in The Sandbox. Instead, by minting 10 NFTs for $200 or less, you earned access to a plot of land on Moose Island, which would later be developed in The Sandbox once the community funds allowed for it. NFT holders were to collectively share in this land, creating a space where they could build and interact.
It’s important to note that no one paid for these plots—they were a gift to the community. I personally created and sent each NFT at my own cost, with the goal of giving holders something that would unlock future access to virtual land when we were able to secure it. This was always meant to be a long-term vision for those who supported us and believed in the idea.
Minting & Ownership
By purchasing 10 NFTs for a combined total of $200 or less, it’s unrealistic to think that anyone was getting an $11,000+ piece of land. The intent was never for this to be a quick way to receive a high-value plot. I’ve always communicated that these plots were part of a long-term vision to eventually secure a shared community space in The Sandbox, not something immediate.
Community Island Plots
These plots were never intended to be flipped for quick profits. The goal has always been about building something long-term for the community, a shared space where holders could engage with and enjoy the project together. There were 5 sales in total: one from us, with funds going directly back into the community wallet, and four community sales, each resulting in a 100% return on investment.
At the end of the day, you can choose what to do with your NFTs. The goal has always been to provide long-term value for the community, and the plots were always meant to be part of the shared vision for Moose Island.
Moose Island Deeds
I created these on the ETH network instead of Polygon because, honestly, I’ve never been a fan of Polygon. That’s why I focused on building the value on ETH. Below are the Moose Island Deeds—you all got one of these when you claimed your CUSTOM NAMED NEXT EARTH PLOT. Safe to say, some of you got a nice chunk! 😂
